1st Lt. Harvey Dater

Harvey Dater was born March 20, 1921. At the age of 18 he moved to Lansing to live with relatives where he was a student and worked as a salesman at a hardware store.
 
Harvey entered the US Army Air Force in 1942. During World War II, he earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant as well as The Presidential Unit Citation Air Medal, The Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and 4 Oak Leaf Clusters. Casualty records indicate he perished in Ruppertshutten, Germany on September 12, 1944.
 
Harvey was married to Mrs. Anne Dater. Post 559 in Lansing, MI was named after him.
